NORWAY – A life-story writing workshop, grand prize drawing and pizza party will wrap up the Joust Read Summer Reading Program from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the Norway Memorial Library.

Local writer and essayist Pam Chodosh will work with teens registered with the program in creating stories from their life experiences. The evening will end with the grand prize drawing when four participants will each win a gift certificate.

Joust Read is a collaborative effort of Harrison Village Library, Norway Memorial Library, Oxford Hills Middle School Library, Paris Public Library and Waterford Library.

The program is organized to give middle school students an opportunity to read books over the summer, earn prizes and participate in three activity evenings. Teens select the books they want to read from the Accelerated Reader Program used in the Oxford Hills Middle School and earn prizes based on a combination of number of books read and amount of points earned in six levels.

Each time teens read at a new level and each time they attend an event, they can enter their name to win a chance for the grand prize. Among the prizes are microwave popcorn, gift coupons, holder, pizza coupons and movie tickets.
