LEWISTON – Yvette T. Cormier, 88, of 12 Laurier St., passed away Thursday, Aug. 4, at her home.
Born in Rumford on Nov. 10, 1916, she was the daughter of Eugene and Mary Gravel Gauthier. She was a graduate of Steven High School in 1935.
She married Stanley Witas in November of 1935. She moved from Rumford to Lewiston in the early ’40s. Stanley Witas died in 1960.
In 1963, she married Raymond Cormier, who passed away in 1968.
She worked in many different shoe shops. In 1960, she took Dale Carnegie courses, and worked for the University of Maine Extension Service as a budget consultant.
She loved to read and do crossword puzzles, and loved visiting family.
Yvette has seen five generations in her lifetime.
She is survived her children, Warren and his wife, Irene Witas, of Auburn, Elaine Labonte of Lewiston, and Barbara Witas of Sturgis.
She was predeceased by five brothers, Harvey, Charles, Omer, Freddy, and Ted Gauthier.
