WALLINGFORD, Conn. – Walter George Hahnel, 85, of 656 Center St., formerly of Parkview Road, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Midstate Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 8, 1920, in Lewiston, the son of the late Frederick and Martha (Wenzel) Hahnel, and was the devoted husband of the late Agnes Theresa Doherty Hahnel.
He had formerly been employed by Hahnel Brothers in Lewiston.
He leaves behind his children, daughter, Barbara Yuhas, and son-in-law, John, of Mentor, Ohio, son, William, and daughter-in-law, Sonja, of Salem, Conn., and son, James, and daughter-in-law, Gail, of Wallingford, Conn.; grandchildren, Shawn, Julianne, Jeffrey and Kaitlynne Yuhas, William and Brian Hahnel, and Jennifer Hahnel; three great-grandchildren, Brendan, Dustin and Kirsten Yuhas; three brothers, Frederick Hahnel, Henry Hahnel and Edward Hahnel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandsons, Justin Hahnel and Scott Yuhas; three brothers, Herbert, Emil and Oscar Hahnel; and sister, Emily Hahnel.
