AUBURN – Pauline B. Reed, 88, a resident of Clover Manor in Auburn, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday evening, Aug. 3.

She was born April 12, 1917, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Earl D. Black and Nettie Ferson Black. She was a naturalized American citizen and a graduate of Brewer High School, Brewer.

After living away for some years, she returned to Brewer in the 1950s and worked at the Star Store in Bangor, and later at Epstein’s in South Brewer. She retired early and moved to Auburn, with her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Reed, to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

She loved spending time with her family, traveling and knitting.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon A. Millett and her husband, Jerome Millett, of Poland Spring, and Earline F. Wood of Arizona; her son, Michael C. Reed and his wife, Rowena Reed, of Arizona; her brother, Robert Black, of Orrington; 10 grandchildren, Tim Millett, Trisha Fletcher, Todd Reed, Tonya Aronson, Troy Reed, Joseph Wood, Lynn Gelsinger, Rhonda Bachert, Larry Wood and Beth Jensen; and 23 great-grandchildren, Timothy, Katherine and Connor Millett, William and Matthew Fletcher, Camden and Cole Reed, Amanda and Matthew Aronson, Chase Boian, Jessica, Joseph, Julia, James and John Wood, Aaron Wood, Lexie Jensen, Morgan and Lauren Bachert and Luke, Laurel Ann, Lillian and Lydia Wood.

She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Reed; her brother, Elwell Black; and her sister, Durelle Gold.
