Family day

OXFORD – Hosanna Church will host its second “Community and Family Fun Day” beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, with the giant yard sale under the tent. The rain or shine sale should have something for everyone.

Another tent will host concerts by several gospel music recording artists during the middle part of the day.

Other attractions will include free blood pressure screenings by the Oxford Rescue, antique and muscle cars from various eras, free movies throughout the day in the church’s air-conditioned sanctuary, displays and summertime food from the grill. Things will wind down at 3 p.m.

Seniors cookout

WEST PARIS – West Paris Senior Citizens will meet at noon Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the Church Street home of Bertha DeHaas for the annual cookout.

Bridge tourney

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge held a quarterly club championship on Aug. 5. Winners were: first, Bill Bowman and Mimi Bell; second, Eric Sahlberg and Bailey Geeslin; third, Adele Bendes and Virginia Schueger; fourth, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; fifth, Carol Curran and Kathy Feld, with Donna and Ozzie Swett also placing.

Sunday speaker

Blood drive

PARIS – An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 1:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School gym. There is a critical blood shortage.

To be eligible to donate, people must be at least age 17, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health. Recent changes in eligibility guidelines now allow more people to donate. Any questions about eligibility can be answered by calling 1-800-462-9400 or by visiting www.newenglandblood.org/giving/guide.htm.
