Megan Harmon of Poland, Shannon Monahan of East Wilton and Monika Piazza of Bowdoinham were among the graduates from The Downeast School of Massage on Saturday, July 23, in Waldoboro.
In business for over 25 years now, the over 600-hour curriculum at DSM is institutionally accredited by the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation. Completion of the state-approved program is required for students to become Licensed Massage Therapists in the State of Maine. The 10-month program includes extensive instruction in anatomy, physiology, massage, kinesiology, pathology, reflexology, deep tissue therapy, hydrotherapy, to name a few, and, depending on the student’s major, intensely-focused course work in sports massage, shiatsu, or body/mind.
