LEWISTON – Jeanne d’Arc F. Courchesne, 78, a resident of d’Youville Pavilion, passed away Aug. 10, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Berlin, N.H., on March 29, 1927, she was the daughter of Joseph and Clothilde Ruel Fournier. She was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1946.

On May 28, 1955, she married Maurice S. Courchesne. They made their home at 291 Bates St. for 35 years, where they raised their family. He predeceased her on June 26, 1995.

She was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, the Saints Peter and Paul Society, Senior Citizens/Horizon 55, the Lewiston Municipal Association and Les Dames de St. Anne.

She was employed for many years at Lewiston Shoe Machinery Co., Lewiston City Hall – City Clerk’s Office and Health and Welfare Office, and retired from the Assessor’s Office in 1989.

She enjoyed spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, shopping, playing cards and listening to French music.

She is survived by two sons, Michel Courchesne and his wife, Betty-Ann, of Lewiston, and Marc A. Courchesne of Sabattus; two daughters, Annette Roy and her husband, Lionel, of Lewiston, and Denise R. Gaumont and her companion, Chip Pettengill; and seven grandchildren, Aimee Courchesne, Travis Roy, Melanie Roy, Cara Gaumont, Kristina Gaumont, Lindsey Gaumont and Andrew Gaumont.

She was predeceased by her husband.
