FARMINGTON – Robert V. Wells, 81, of Farmington, died Thursday morning, Aug. 11, at Sandy River Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Bethel, Feb. 6, 1924, the son of Venora and Florence (Bradley) Wells. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1942 and went to serve his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Edith Whittier, Feb. 7, 1946, in Kingfield; she passed away Jan. 7, 1997.
He worked as a surveyor for Wright & Pierce Co.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 28 and the West Farmington Fire Department. He was an avid gardener and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and dancing.
He is survived by five daughters, Sally Farmer and husband, Erald, of Temple, Susan Campbell and husband, Michael, of Bangor, Nancy Ellis of Industry, Becky Bogue and husband, Jonathan, of Farmington, and Mary Young of Tennessee; two sons, R. Scott Wells and wife, Mary, of Wilton, and Roger A. Wells and wife, Valerie, of Farmington; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Wells of Massachusetts; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Edith; a son, Gregory; a granddaughter, Shelby; a brother, Albert; and a son-in-law, Theodore Ellis Sr.
