LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club presented a $1,000 scholarship to Pamela M. Lucas of Lewiston, who is in her second semester at Central Maine Medical Center School of Nursing in Lewiston.
The brainchild of Rotarian Gary Kennedy, an active member of the club, the scholarship has been awarded annually to an individual in their last two years of a four-year college program or in a two-year college program.
The candidate must be a resident of the greater Lewiston-Auburn area. A condition of the scholarship is for the chosen candidate to be willing to attend the weekly luncheon meetings of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club for one year.
During that time the club will pay for membership dues and lunch. Following the year, a permanent membership is encouraged. Selection is based on need and sincerity to participate in community service.
Lucas is a third-generation nurse focusing on her education. Her goal is to work in a specialty field as a registered nurse following graduation. Lucas looks forward to participating and supporting the efforts of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club in the coming year.
