RUMFORD – Omer Breton, 89, of Franklin Street, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Rumford Community Home following a brief illness.

He was born in Rumford, on Nov. 4, 1915, a son of Harry and Annie (Gagnon) Breton.

Omer was a lifelong resident of Rumford, attended local schools, and was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1934.

He was a retired millwright having worked for the Rumford Paper Mill for more than 30 years, and was a member of the 40 Year Club.

Omer was a communicant of St. Athanasius & St. John Catholic Church. He was a member of the Rumford Lodge of Elks, Rumford Historical Society, Rumford Senior Citizens and the Dixfield Senior Citizens, and a former member of the Rumford Fish and Game Association.

In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Following his retirement he enjoyed senior bus trips with his friends.

Omer will be remembered for the loving care he gave to his mother for many years.

He is survived by a brother, Leon J. Breton and wife, Betty, of Columbia, Md.; three nephews, Tad Breton, Tom Breton and Donald Breton; and a niece, Beverly Carroll.
