RUMFORD – A small fire destroyed a field across from Mountain Valley High School on Saturday afternoon.
The fire started around 3 p.m. in a field on Scotty’s Farm, a former dairy farm on Route 120, according to the Rumford Fire Department. It took firefighters about 10 minutes to extinguish the blaze. Less than an acre burned.
Nobody was hurt, and the fire didn’t reach any buildings.
Fire officials believe the brush fire may have been caused by a spark from an electrical transformer that blew nearby.
