AUBURN – Randy Robbins of Auburn was recently named Big Brother of the Year at Child Health Center’s Big Brothers Big Sisters annual volunteer appreciation dinner.
The event is held each year to honor the volunteers and mentees who participate in the Child Health Center’s mentoring programs throughout Oxford, Androscoggin, northern Cumberland and southern Franklin counties.
Diane Blanchard, community mentor coordinator, presented Robbins as Big Brother of the Year. Robbins has been matched with his “Little Brother,” Matt Gammon, for the last five years.
Blanchard said Robbins has given help, has recruited workers to organize events for the waiting littles and has donated supplies and obtained free tickets for special events that the matches can attend.
Gammon said Robbins “has been a great mentor. I enjoy sharing Randy’s interests in sports.” He stated he is glad to have Robbins as a friend.
