FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) – Defensive lineman Mario Monds was released Sunday from the New England Patriots.

Monds, 28, was signed by the team on Aug. 2. The Fort Pierce, Fla.-native was a sixth-round choice for the Washington Redskins in 2001.

He’s also played for the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants and Miami Dolphins.

Monds has recorded four career tackles in seven NFL games.
