Street to close for utility work
LEWISTON – The Public Works Department will close a portion of Pleasant Street from 7 a.m. until noon on Thursday, Aug. 18, for utility construction. Pleasant Street will be closed between South Avenue and Scribner Boulevard. Detour signs will be posted.
County GOP meeting in Greene
GREENE – The Androscoggin County Republicans will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Greene.
The guest speaker will be Mary Adams, political activist for many causes including tax reform. Adams is spearheading the petition to adopt the Maine Taxpayer Bill of Rights, or TABOR.
Other business includes town reports and discussion on the political rally/Italian dinner event in September at the Lewiston Lodge of Elks. All county Republicans are welcome to attend.
Directions to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall from Lewiston: travel Main Street, Route 202. From Greene line, travel 2.5 miles, bear right onto Main Street two-tenths of a mile. VFW Hall, Post 1102 is on right.
