Open house

SCARBOROUGH – Fiddlehead Center for the Arts will have an open house at its new Scarborough location at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25. There are limited openings for the early education program, FiddlestArts, a preschool program based on the Reggio Emilia approach to education. Mediator training

AUGUSTA – The Maine Attorney General is recruiting new volunteer consumer complaint mediators for its September class.

Training will begin Monday, Sept. 12. Volunteers will mediate consumer complaints over the phone or by mail in the Attorney General’s Augusta office.

The Attorney General trains its mediators in consumer law and mediation techniques. Mediators are asked to volunteer approximately six hours a week on a schedule convenient to them.

Golf classic held

LEEDS – The C.N. Brown Co. held its 18th annual Golf Classic at the Springbrook Golf Club on Aug. 11, raising more than $49,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The money raised helps to fund research that continues to make progress in the battle against muscle disorders, supports MDA clinics, follow-up care, support groups and summer camp for children with neuromuscular diseases throughout Maine.
