BRUNSWICK – Joseph F. Coyne, 86, of 23 Town and Country Drive, Lisbon, died Sunday, Aug. 7, at Parkview Adventist Medical Center, Brunswick.
He was born in Lewiston, July 7, 1919, a son of Albina Normandeau and Frank Coyne. He attended Edward Little High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a resident of Massachusetts for many years.
He attended Northeastern University, Boston, receiving a degree in mechanical engineering and machine design.
He had been employed at H.E. Callahan and Phil Rea Associates in Auburn, and retired from Paul Lessard and Sons, Lewiston.
He married Joyce Arnold Coyne, July 16, 1971, and they lived in Harpswell for more than 30 years.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to travel and enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the West Harpswell Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of Lisbon; three sons, Joseph F. Coyne Jr., and his wife, Joy, of Millis, Mass., William Coyne and his wife, Paula, of New Haven, Conn., and Donald Coyne and his wife, Angie, of Lisbon; a sister, Pearl M. Coyne of Auburn; two brothers, James F. Coyne of Auburn and Thomas Coyne of Pipe Creek, Texas; a sister-in-law, June Hutchinson Coyne of West Sand Lake, N.Y.; three granddaughters, Laura Coyne of New Haven, Conn., Heather Coyne Sjoquist and her husband, Scott, and Jessica Coyne Gamache and her husband, Kenneth; five great-grandchildren, Maya, Lily, Brooke, Madison and Tyler; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three sons, Jack A. Coyne, Ronald Coyne and Daniel Coyne; and two brothers, William W. Coyne and Eugene M. Coyne.
