RUMFORD – SAD 43 sports fans will be able to get into their favorite fall games quicker and cheaper thanks to a plan adopted by the board Monday night.
The district’s athletic director, John Bernard, is making available half-price season passes for all home girls’ and boys’ soccer games, and varsity football games.
Most people buying a season pass will be paying half price.
The idea arose when Bernard was approached by a couple of parents with large families, who said the cost for admitting the entire family was very high, he said.
Tickets are generally $3 for adults and $2 for students. With the new season passes, adults who attend all 14 regular-season soccer games and five regular-season football games will pay $28.50. For students, that figure is $19, and for families, the total would be $95.
To set up appointments for the required picture identification cards, those interested should call Bernard at 364-4547, ext. 241.
Football coach Rick White said season passes will also make it quicker and easier for people to go through the gates.
In other matters during this last board meeting before the beginning of a new school year, Mountain Valley High School Principal Matt Gilbert said 608 students are registered to start classes at the school. He said nearly a dozen new staff have been hired, with one of those still awaiting approval of a working visa that will allow her to teach French and Spanish.
