I am writing in response to the Aug. 11 article regarding discussion about closing Mixers in Sabattus.

I think Mixers is beneficial to the town for numerous reasons. It is a great place for receptions and private parties, and it brings people to the town who would spend money in other area businesses.

Some are quick to condemn a place because of a few problem people fighting recently, people who weren’t even from Sabattus.

Where there is alcohol served, there are bound to be a few problems. But I believe the area needs to have a place where people can go to have a few cocktails and relax.

It is not the establishment’s fault that some people turn into jerks when they have had a few drinks.

I know a lot of people from the Lewiston-Auburn area and surrounding towns who like to go to Mixers.

The place shouldn’t be condemned just because of a few drunks who like to cause trouble.
