DIXFIELD – Sunday, Aug. 21 will find the town’s Main Street alive with activity during the Dixfield Main Street Outdoor Market. Between 7:30 and 9 a.m. people of all ages will register for one of two races. The 5K race/walk will begin at 9 a.m. and the fun run/walk will start at 9:30.
There will be a preregistration fee of $10 for the 5K race; $12 the day of the race. The fun run is $5. Prizes and gifts will be given to participants. Registration and race starts will be at the G. Dana Holt Gazebo near Bullrock the Moose.
The gazebo will rock with the sounds of “Nickels and Dimes,” formerly the Arsenault Family Band, from 9 a.m. to noon, and from noon to 4 p.m. Lee Roy LeBlanc and Friends will provide country and blue grass tunes.
The Dixfield Historical Society will be open all day. There will be a display of antique linens and a “Festival of Flowers” flower show along with trash and treasures and food sales.
All along the street from the historical society, up to and behind the town office and post office and up through to the Bangor Savings parking lot will be dozens of booths offering all kinds of products, from maple syrup, handmade baskets, collectibles, flea market items, crafts, doll clothes, pottery and raffle tickets.
There will be coffee and pastries at 6 a.m. for early arriving vendors at the fire station, and by 9 a.m. there will be fried dough, Italian ice and French fries. There will be a chicken barbecue, Italian sandwiches, hot dogs, lobster rolls and meatball subs.
Bingo will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the American Legion. Also at 1 p.m., there will be free treats to approximately the first 100 people who go to the front lot of Log Cabin Craftworks. Norine Clarke, Outdoor Market Committee member, won a Free Ice Cream Block Party during a recent advertising campaign.
Folks will be served as long as supplies last.
