RANGELEY – The Wilhelm Reich Infant Trust, owner of the Wilhelm Reich Museum, recently received a $7,500 grant from a component fund of the Maine Community Foundation to help replace the museum’s original heating system (circa 1948), and to remove and dispose of asbestos-containing material surrounding the steam furnace, boiler room and crawl spaces.

“This will enable us to protect the integrity of the building and its contents and to increase its utilization year-round,” said Mary Higgins, museum director.

The Wilhelm Reich Museum, now celebrating its 45th anniversary, is open to the public on a regular basis during July and August, from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. In September it is open from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays only and year-round by appointment. The museum is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The Wilhelm Infant Trust is an educational-cultural organization that preserves and transmits the scientific legacy of renowned physician-scientist Wilhelm Reich (1897-1957), assisting the public and future generations to understand his contribution to various areas of knowledge and to benefit from it.

A statewide organization, the Maine Community Foundation works in partnership with donors and community groups to strengthen Maine. For more information visit the Web site at www.mainecf.org or call toll free 1-877-700-6800.
