LISBON – The town and school department joined together this year to lock in fuel prices by prepaying for diesel fuel and kerosene.

Selectmen awarded Down-east Energy the contract on its bid of $1.95 per gallon for 96,000 gallons of kerosene and $2 a gallon for 50,000 gallons of diesel fuel. Last year the cost was $1.95 and $1.31, respectively, Town Manager Curtis Lunt said.

Harry C. Crooker and Son was awarded a paving contract. The town has $175,000 available for paving.

The board also accepted a grant of $73,891 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the Fire Department and approved the transfer of the required $5,000 local match. Hammond Equipment of Auburn was awarded the contract on its bid of $1,695 for a new Woods Bushbull Cutter.

The money will come from the Woodlot Reserve Fund. Nason Mechanical Services was awarded the contract for a new boiler and plumbing work at the MTM Community Center on its bid of $6,192.

Jonathan Potvin was named an alternate to the Planning Board for four years and Jonathan Foster for one year. Also, Gerald Kamke was named a regular Planning Board member for five years; and Norma Newbury will serve on the Appeals Board for one year. The board accepted Karen Reinhert’s resignation from the Conservation Commission.
