PARIS – Celebration Barn Theater is gearing up for two nights of comedy. Master physical comedians Avner Eisenberg and Julie Goell will host the Eccentric Performing Workshop Show Friday, Aug. 26, and Goell will star in “George Bizet is Dead” Saturday, Aug. 27.
Eisenberg and Goell have been teaching their unique approach to comedy at Celebration Barn for more than 10 years.
In “George Bizet is Dead.” Professor Grey Poupon announces with regret that George Bizet is dead. Yes, the man best known for his opera “Carmen” is no more, but his work lives on in this hilariously mangled version. Show highlights blend puppets, melodrama and cleaning products.
Goell grew up in Rome where she learned from the masters of Commedia dell’Arte. As a performer in Europe, she worked in music, theater, film, television and recording.
She toured with the clown troupe “I Gesti” and taught physical comedy skills at Teatro Studio in Rome where she got her teacher certification for physical comedy.
She acted in the Broadway production of “Ghetto” and directed several U.S. regional productions in the comic vein.
Goell also plays bass with the Casco Bay Tummlers klezmer band.
The performances will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets for the workshop show are $8 for adults, $6 for children under 12.
