AUBURN – Dominique Simon Labonte, 89 of 113 Pride Road, Auburn, died Friday, Aug. 19, at Clover Manor Nursing Home where he resided for the past 14 months.

Born in Lewiston, June 7, 1916, a son of George and Ida Laliberte Labonte, he was educated in Lewiston schools.

He was a member of the Auburn Catholic community at Sacred Heart Parish.

He had worked as a mechanic at Allard Chevrolet, Marcotte Chevrolet and Lee Olds Cadillac prior to his retirement in 1981.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and boating.

He loved getting out on his boat and trolling for the big ones at Lake Thompson.

He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband and father by his wife of 69 years, and by all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, the former Jeanne Marie Hebert, of Lewiston, whom he married at St. Mary’s Church Sept. 5, 1936; a daughter, Lorraine T. Limoges, of Auburn; six sons and their spouses, Roger G. and Lucy of Shirley Mills, Raynald R. of Somersworth, N.H., Roland F. and Joline of Readfield, Richard M. and Joline of Lewiston, Marcel A. and Claudette of Bixby, Okla.; Norman J. and Sandi of Bangor; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Yvonne Delamater of South Paris, Marcella and her husband, Frank Talarico, and Jeannine St. Hilaire, all of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Paul R. Labonte, in 1976; a brother; and three sisters.
