AUBURN – Rachel H. Germond, 99, a resident of Auburn for 40 years, died on Aug. 20, at Clover Health Care Facilities.
She was born on Aug. 4, 1906, in Mechanic Falls, the daughter of the late Herman and Mary (Crooker) Haskell of Boston and Portland. She attended Portland schools, graduating from Portland High School in 1924.
She was married to E. Stanley Robinson of Bath in 1936; he passed away in 1965. She married John W. Germond of Auburn in 1971, who later passed away in 1997.
She retired from B. Peck Co. in 1971, after 18 years in the credit office. She also worked several years for Owen Moore in the Auburn Mall.
She was a past president of the Credit Women’s International and a member of the United Methodist Church, serving as treasurer for three years, member of the finance board and leader of the Naomi Circle for several years at the church.
She is survived by her son, William A. Robinson and his wife, Dorothy, of Lewiston; stepson, Jack W. Germond of Washington, D.C.; granddaughters, Diane Boulanger of Hartford and Penny Robinson of Lewiston; stepdaughter, Jessica Germond of Washington, D.C.; and four great-grandchildren.
