Rummage sale

RUMFORD – The women of St. Barnabas Church will hold a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at the church.

Harvest supper

RUMFORD CORNER – A harvest supper will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at Blazing Star Masonic Lodge on Route 232. Menu will include corn beef, ham, cabbage, carrots, beets, turnip, bread, desserts, coffee and punch. A second seating will be available if needed. Adults $8 children under 12 $3. Airport mission

DIXFIELD – JAARS, Jungle Aviation and Radio Service, the technical and flight arm of Wycliffe Bible Translators, is winging into Swan’s field, just off the Canton Point Road, from 9 a.m. to sunset Saturday, Sept. 10, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11. Sponsored by area churches, Missions-at-the-Airport will provide a chance to learn more about the impact Wycliffe/JAARS is having around the world.

Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets to ride in a short takeoff and land single-engine aircraft. The cost is $15. For $18 guests can ride in a helicopter designed for those deep jungle flights where runways are unheard of. While waiting for their rides, guests can also take advantage of special flying demonstrations, videos, computer and translation presentations, music, food, games and activities for the children and assorted other fun surprises.
