AUBURN – The Auburn Community Band, under the direction of Milt Simon, will be extending this year’s summer concert season by one week, through the end of August. The band offers free weekly concerts each summer, from the middle of June through late August, at Festival Plaza on Main Street. Every Wednesday evening, weather permitting, the group presents a different 70-minute program of music at this downtown Auburn location.

At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, the community band will present “Music Heard Around the World” as its final performance for the summer. This concert was originally scheduled for late June but was cancelled due to inclement weather.

The audience is advised to bring their own lawn chairs on which to sit. Free parking is available in the parking garage across the street.

The band is sponsored by the Auburn Parks and Recreation Department, HRH/Dunlap Corp., and the Gleason Radio Group. For more information, call the APRD at 784-0191.
