PORTLAND – Winifred M. Arsenault Verrill, 92, of Rebecca Lane, Yarmouth, formerly of Falmouth and Otisfield, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Yarmouth on April 5, 1913, a daughter of Emanuel and Rosalie DeRoche Arsenault. She graduated from Yarmouth High School, Class of 1930, as salutatorian.
After high school, she worked locally and married Irwin L. Verrill in 1936. They raised their family on Pleasant Hill Road in Falmouth, where they lived for 40 years before retiring to Otisfied. She lived in Otisfield for 24 years before moving back to Yarmouth.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Yarmouth, and was a member of the TMTM Group in Yarmouth. She summered at the family cottage on Little Sebago Lake for 24 years.
She is survived by four children, Robert I. Verrill and his wife, Elaine, of Cumberland Center, David M. Verrill and his wife, Jo, of Mohnton, Pa., Donald W. Verrill and his wife, Elaine-Doble, of Otisfield, and Martha Jane MacAdam and her husband, Douglas, of Shippensburg, Pa.; sisters, Bernadette Gagne, Catherine Arsenault and Irene DeLorme, all of Yarmouth, and Rita Rager of Silver Springs, Md.; a brother, John, of Portland; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Irwin L. Verrill, in 1991; two sisters, Josephine McDougall and Cecelia Townsend; two brothers, Louis and Raymond Arsenault; and a grandson, Daniel MacAdam in 1982.
