AUBURN – The Auburn Exchange Club has made a $1,500 donation to the Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care for the purchase of a Pilot audiometer, a child-friendly and non-threatening portable hearing test unit.

The Pilot audiometer can be used for children as young as 2 years. The test is fast and easy and takes less than two minutes. Head Start has been screening about 400 to 500 children a year with a machine that is about 15 years old.

The Exchange Club is an all-volunteer, national service organization for men and women who want to serve their community, develop leadership skills and make new friendships. Exchange is made up of some 900 clubs and 30,000 members throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

Exchange service programs include Americanism, community service, youth activities and a national project, the prevention of child abuse.
