POLAND – Muriel G. Bartasius, 86, died peacefully Aug. 24, at her home, with her family by her side.

She was born in Auburn, May 4, 1919, the daughter of Arthur and Ida (Simard) Pontbriand. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1938.

She later married Frank Bartasius, in 1949. With Frank, she was an owner of Fairlawn Golf and Country Club in Poland. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church.

Of her many hobbies, she particularly enjoyed skiing, golf and acting. She had several lead roles at the Community Little Theatre. She is also known for being a wonderful mother.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Frank; sons, Dave Bartasius of Poland, Mike Bartasius and his wife, Meredith, of Vail, Colo., and Steve Bartasius of Poland; daughter, Julie Bibeau and husband, Ron, of Biddeford; brother, Bert Pontbriand and his wife, Carmen, of Auburn; grandchildren, Michelle Moore, and Jessica Bean and her husband, Adam; and special friends, Grace and Sue, whom the family would like to thank for their dedication, patience and compassion for the caring of Muriel.

She was predeceased by brothers, Gerald, Fern and Leo Pontbriand.
