STANDISH – Schoolhouse Arts Center’s Youth Summer Shakespeare Workshop will present “Twelfth Night, or What You Will” tonight through Sunday, Aug. 28, at Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake.
Shakespeare’s daring comedy takes place in Illyria, an imaginary country full of foolish lovers and wise fools.
Considered to be one of the Bard’s most delightful comedies, “Twelfth Night” is a play rich with mistaken identity and illusion, deception and disguises, madness, and the exceptional things that love may cause people to do and see.
The 15 youths in the workshop range in age from 11 to 17. They have been working with director Eileen Avery since June, attending workshops and rehearsals throughout the summer months.
The cast includes John Roberts of Casco, Nate Lawson and Nick Robertshaw of Gorham, Adam Mosey and Shannon Mosey of Hollis and Jacob Plummer of Limington.
Also taking roles are Calvin Moisan of New Gloucester, Kees van Haasteren of Raymond, Sara Dodge of Standish, Nicole Avery, Samantha Avery and Ryan Biggs of Steep Falls, and Rachel Cote , Shane Giles and Austin Loukas of Windham.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets are $6 for students and seniors and $8 for adults. Tickets are available by calling 642-3743.
The arts center is on Route 114 in Sebago Lake village, near the intersection of Route 35.
