School open

POLAND – The Poland Historical Society has announced that the Old Schoolhouse will be open to the public from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1. The schoolhouse is located at 1229 Maine St. next to the Town Office.

The Poland Historical Society works to preserve and present Poland’s past for residents and visitors. Members of the society will be available to answer questions and give a tour of the facility.

Trial and Error

LEWISTON – A Trial and Error meeting will be held at 6 p.m. tonight at the Lewiston Public Library. Author Jim Moore will be in attendance. Call Heidi Masselli at 783 5203 for more information. The nonprofit group is seeking a retrial for Dennis Dechaine.

Rotary speaker

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will meet at noon Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Ramada Inn when Chip Morrison, Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce executive director, will discuss the redevelopment of the old Pontiac Building at 415 Lisbon St. into a modern comprehensive business center. Anyone wishing to attend the program or to learn more about Rotary is welcome. Weekly buffet luncheons are $8 a person.
