WARNER, N.H. (AP) – The father facing criminal charges for housing his family in a filthy home faces a new charge of domestic assault.

Byron Ruff was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Concord District court. Police said children were not involved in the arrest.

Byron Ruff and his wife, Wendy Ruff, were charged last week with five counts of child endangerment for housing their children in a home so filthy the town condemned it.

Among other things, officials say the house was full of garbage and animal waste, and had no food for the children.

The couple have five children ranging in age from 11 to 17.

The family was allowed to move back in after they cleaned the house and made some repairs.
