WATERFORD – The Waterford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Wilkins Community House on Plummer Hill Road.
Willi Irish, director of interpretation at the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center in Livermore, will appear in character and costume as one of the town paupers, Mercy Lovejoy.
Mercy will explain in her own way how she got to be a pauper and how the town of Livermore took care of their paupers in the 1800s. Irish will bring research papers about paupers to share with those attending.
The public is welcome. Refreshments will be available.
