This is in regard to a letter from former Judge John Benoit of Rangeley. He blames the secretary of state because people with suspended licenses are driving. According to him, if the state revoked the licenses, it would take care of it.
I didn’t go to law school, but if someone is going to drive with a suspended license, revoking it will not make any difference.
If the former judge has any ideas that will truly keep these people off the road, I am sure the whole country would like to know them. Even keeping them from owning or registering a vehicle would not do it. They would just borrow or steal a vehicle. They could even get a family member to register one in their own names for them.
I really wish there was a way to keep them off the road.
I would ask Mr. Benoit for better ideas.
