WOODSTOCK – A state trooper said Wednesday that injuries to two young boys in a one-vehicle crash Saturday night were less serious than first believed.

They have been treated and released from Maine Medical Center in Portland, Trooper Scott Sawyer said. He declined to release the boys’ names, citing the ongoing investigation.

The boys, ages 6 and 8, were airlifted to Portland after a Chevrolet Blazer driven by Eric Austin, 30, of Roxbury, failed to negotiate a curve on Route 232 near Billings Hill Road, Sawyer said. The vehicle left the road and crossed a gully before stopping.

Austin was taken by ambulance to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway, where he was treated and released, Sawyer said.
