LISBON – A 21-year-old Dixfield woman died Friday night after a machine accident at Dingley Press.

Lisbon Detective Bernie McAllister said police received a call for help at 10:03 p.m.

Kayla Cox had been training on a paper machine at the business off Route 196. McAllister said he could not comment on how she died or whether the machine had been involved in other on-the-job accidents.

Cox died at the scene. Six other people were taken to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center to be treated for trauma after witnessing the accident, McAllister said.

Dingley Press President Chris Pierce said that this was the first fatality for his company.

“I’ve met with a lot of employees today,” he said Saturday night. “We’re heartsick about this.”

He said Cox came to the company through a temp agency sometime earlier this year. She became full-time in June.

The private company has been printing catalogs since 1928. It has more than 500 employees.

Safety engineers from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the death, along with the Lisbon Police Department.
