Tres Dias dinner

RUMFORD – Tres Dias will have a potluck dinner meeting at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street. The meal will be held in the fellowship hall and the speaker will be the Rev. Linda Kimball. All area Tres Dias members and their guests are invited.

Quilters meeting

RUMFORD – Rumford Area Quilters will resume monthly meetings beginning Monday, Sept. 12, at 5:30 p.m. at the Rumford United Methodist Chapel, Linnell Street.

Those attending are asked to bring 30 6-inch squares cut from a piece of fall colored 100 percent cotton material for a fabric swap. All area quilters are welcome. For details, call Mary at 562-7050.

Poetry reading

RUMFORD – Pennacook Art Center will hosting a poetry reading at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, Ken Nye, former principal of Rumford High School, will read from his collection of poems, “Searching for the Spring.”

Many of the poems are about the Nye family’s years in North Rumford and the surrounding mountains and forests. Anyone who has poems to share is asked to bring them.
