The organist was Robin Ann Barron. Services opened with the lighting of her memorial candle by her granddaughters, symbolizing Lora’s presence. Opening words were Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, 10. Scripture readings were 2 Corinthians 4:16-5:1, Revelation 21:1-4 and John 14:1-6. Also included in the service was a reading of 1 Corinthians 13.

Special music included “O Come, Angel Band” by soloist Daniel Woodward, “The Lord’s Prayer” by soloist Alan Shumway and “Let There Be Peace on Earth” by soloist Crystal Poulin. One of her daughters, Julie Byers Hutchinson, shared a personal letter to her mom with the congregation. Longtime friend, Liz Marks shared stories and memories of Lora. Congregational hymns included “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” and “Amazing Grace.” In unison, the congregation recited the Serenity Prayer.

Following services, the Byers Family welcomed all to join them for refreshments and the sharing of memories in the Fellowship Hall, hosted by the church fellowship. Ellsworth Crocker offered piano selections, played on the digital piano given by Verne in honor of Lora, whose love for music will continue to be a blessing to the church.

Arrangements were in the care of the Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service and Remembrance Center. Committal services were held Friday morning at the New Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, with the Rev. Dr. Susan Crane officiating.
