LEWISTON – Mary Drigotas Girard, 85, affectionately known by her close friends as “Mugs,” died suddenly in her Lewiston home on Saturday, Sept. 3.

She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 29, 1919, one of seven children of Martin and Carusa (Stelmok) Drigotas. She was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1937.

She was employed locally by the AT&T Co. in varying capacities as an operator, service representative and cashier until her retirement in 1982. During a break in her AT&T service, she raised a son, Bruce, and lived in Brunswick, Lake Worth, Fla., and at Tacoma Lake until her return to Lewiston in the early ’70s. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling and was active in the telephone company Pioneers’ Association. During the past 20 years, she had lovingly cared for her mom and her brother and sisters.

She is survived by her sister, Ann Fahey of Auburn; her brother, Ed Drigotas of Palm Bay, Fla.; her son, Bruce McFadden and his wife, Janice, of Monroe, Conn.; and several nephews and a niece.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Betty Robinson and Sally Pollard; and her brothers, John “Bucky” Drigotas and Frank M. Drigotas Sr.
