TURNER – Four different players paved the way as Edward Little defeated Leavitt 4-0 in Tuesday afternoon girls’ soccer action.

Kelsey Pettingal started the scoring off in the first half, followed by goals from Muriel Schwinn and Katelyn St. Hilaire. Elizabeth Esponnettie netted the final goal in the second half.

Edward Little (2-0) displayed strong defense throughout the contest, allowing Leavitt (0-2) only four shots on goal, to the Eddies’ 14.

Rangeley 9, Averill 0

RANGELEY – Samantha Olivieri and Ashley Quimby each netted three goals as Rangeley defeated Averill, posting a 9-0 win in girls soccer action Tuesday afternoon.

Raina Eustis chipped in with two goals, while Hayley White added one for the Lakers (1-1) win. Krista Jamison needed to make only two stops to perserve the shutout. Rangeley led the shooting effort, 51-3.

St. Dom’s 3, Old Orchard Beach 0

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Jordan Paquet led a trio of players to score goals as St. Dom’s cruised to a 3-0 shutout over Old Orchard Beach in a WMC girls’ soccer matchup Tuesday. Autumn Bell and Jessica Chamberlain also tallied for the Saints (1-1), while Heidi DeHann, Kate Eslinger and Kathryn Gallick contributed with assists. Shandra McManus needed only one save to preserve the shutout.

Amanda Nadeau handled goalkeeping duties for the Seagulls (0-2), recording 16 saves on the day.

Mt. Blue 2, Lawrence 0

FARMINGTON – Sandy Moloney and Rebecca Schoen each netted an unassisted goal in the second half of the contest to lift Mt. Blue to a 2-0 win over Lawrence Tuesday afternoon.

Solid defense by the Cougars (2-0) helped to keep Lawrence (0-2) off the board. Mt. Blue led in corner kicks, 5-2, and in shots on goal, 15-8.

Sacopee Valley 0, Buckfield 0 (2OT)

BUCKFIELD – Sacopee Valley and Buckfield drew to a 0-0 tie in two fruitless overtimes in what proved to be a tightly contested WMC soccer action Tuesday.

For the Sacopee Valley effort, Jennifer Verrill dominated in the mid-field, setting up many scoring opportunities for her team. Sweeper Vanessa Stacy controlled the field and was responsible for shutting down the majority of the Buckfield offensive effort.

For Buckfield, both Kasey Farrington and Tiffany Dunn had strong midfield games.

Lewiston 6, Gardiner 0

GARDINER – Laura Martel netted three goals and added an assist to pace Lewiston to a 6-0 shutout win over Gardiner in a KVAC girls’ soccer matchup. Kelsey Rodrigue, Mallory Long and Julia Bergeron also tallied for the Blue Devils (2-0) to complete the scoring. Katie Cobb needed only three saves to preserve the shutout.

Lindsay Thorton made a gallant effort in net for the Tigers (0-2), turning away 15 shots on the day as Lewiston fired shot after shot in her direction.

Freeport 7, Poland 0

FREEPORT – Maye Farrell led all scorers with two goals as Freeport dominated over Poland 7-0 in soccer action Tuesday afternoon.

Other Falcon (2-0) goals were scored by Anna Loeschner, Sarah, Rowe, Kelsey Matheson, Logar Crane, and Kaitlyn Soule. Elizabeth DeGrande was credited with an assist for the win.Paige Piper and Mel Cloutier split goaltending duties for the Knights (0-2) effort, combining to save 38 shots.

Field Hockey

Leavitt 3, Camden Hills 1

TURNER – Jessica Paladino tallied two goals and an assist as Leavitt snuck past Camden Hills 3-1 Tuesday.

Paladino had a strong game, demonstrating good stick handling. Kayela Jalbert added a goal for the Hornets (2-0) win. KateLyn Beeckel and Beth Ames were solid defensively.

Kate Fetterman netted the lone goal off an assist from Laura Schelbie for the Camden Hills (1-1) effort.

Leavitt opened their season on Friday, Sept. 2, with a win over Maranacook 3-0.

Gardiner 3, Oxford Hills 0

GARDINER – Kristyn Seymour and Lynsey Seymour each tallied a goal and an assist as they led Gardiner to a 3-0 win over Oxford Hills Tuesday afternoon.

Hailey Chadbourne also posted a goal for the Tigers (2-0), while Bryleigh Cook was credited with an assist. In the net, Katie Beaulieu faced and saved only one shot throughout the contest for the shutout win.Aleksys Pike stopped 17 of 20 shots for the Vikings (0-2) effort.

Skowhegan 6, Edward Little 0

AUBURN – Samantha Gifford tallied a trio of goals to lead Skowhegan to a triumphant 6-0 win over Edward Little in KVAC field hockey action Tuesday.

Courtney Beinotte chipped in with a pair of goals, while Melissa Hancock rounded out the scoring. Zara Saydjary and Becca Roy each recorded two assists a piece for the Indians (2-0) win.

Skowhegan held the edge in penalty corners at 15-2, and in shooting, 25-3.

Megan Smith turned away all three shots she faced.
