PERU – An open house will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Peru Volunteer Fire Station.

Fire Chief Bill Hussey said Wednesday that firefighters will show off their new equipment, purchased with a $137,000 federal Assistance to Firefighters grant received last August.

The town provided a 10 percent match, or $13,700.

The equipment includes self-contained breathing gear, new turnout gear, a system to rid a structure of smoke and a commercial heavy duty washing machine in which to clean contaminated fire gear.
