BANGOR – Dona J. Bernard, 94, formerly of Lincoln Avenue in Rumford, died peacefully Thursday, Sept. 8, at his daughter’s home in Bangor.

He was born on Feb. 10, 1911, in Cocayne, New Brunswick, Canada, a son of Joseph and Rose (Richard) Bernard. Dona attended St. John’s School in Rumford.

He was employed for seven years with International Paper Co., and 38 years with Oxford and Ethyl Paper Co. in Rumford, and was a member of their 25 & 40 Year Clubs.

He was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John Catholic Church, Rumford, and St. John’s Catholic Church in Bangor. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

He is survived by a daughter, Pauline LeFebvre, and her husband, John, of Bangor; two sons, James Bernard and wife, Donna, of Andover, and William Bernard and wife, Betty, of Farmington; a sister, Mary DeRoche of Foxboro, Mass.; a brother, Frank Bernard, and wife, Jeanette, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 67 years, Odila “June” (Bourgeois) Bernard; two sisters, Millie Girard and Dot Finethy; and two brothers, Arthur and Edward Bernard.
