BRUNSWICK – Dorothy Irene Baltrus, 80, died Thursday, Sept. 8, at Mid Coast Medical Center, with her family at her side.
She was born in Hornsea, England, July 6, 1925, a daughter of Doc Bridge and Audrey Wilson O’dell Bridge.
She graduated from boarding schools in England and served in the British Women’s Army Corps during World War II.
She married Jesse Lee Libby in 1963, and they started Leerene Kennels in North Turner in 1966, which they operated for 18 years.
She later lived on Worthley Pond for many years, then traveled overseas with her daughter and granddaughter in 1989, as her daughter was in the Navy.
In 1993, she moved to Brunswick, where she resided to date.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, which she did for the Navy Relief, while living in Virginia.
She is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Libby DeLasso of Brunswick, and her husband, Joseph; a son, David Scott of England; and four grandchildren, Tammy Autry, Connie Palsrok, and Andrew and Paula Scott.
She was predeceased by her husband; a daughter, Janna Lee Libby Roseberry; and four brothers.
