MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) – A Wesleyan student was in critical condition Sunday at Hartford Hospital, one day after being struck by a car in Middletown.

Rachel Soriano, 20, was crossing Church Street around 6 p.m. Saturday when she was struck by a westbound Chevrolet Impala, police said. The driver of the car has been identified as Erin Kelly, 48, of Middletown.

Soriano was initially taken to Middlesex Hospital then airlifted to Hartford.

The investigation is continuing.
