RUMFORD – New officers were elected at the annual meeting of the River Valley Growth Council on Wednesday night.

They are Dick Lovejoy of Rumford, president; Tony Carter of Dixfield, vice president; Bill Hine of Peru, treasurer; and Diane Ray of Canton, secretary.

The council and its Board of Directors also became mired in a lengthy discussion about revising their bylaws, Executive Director Rosie Bradley said late Thursday afternoon.

At the board’s meeting last month, Bradley explained that the organization, which is seeking nonprofit status, must revise its articles of incorporation.

They state that the council can have a minimum of eight directors and a maximum of 18.

The board has 28 directors and 20 alternates, thus, violating their articles of incorporation.

A decision could not be reached, Bradley said, so it is to be discussed again an hour before the board’s next meeting in October.
