FARMINGTON – It isn’t very often that the Franklin County Animal Shelter houses small animals, but when they do, the animals tend to stay for a while before they find a home.
So when we three guinea pigs arrive the other day, staff thought they would get the word out as soon as possible. The tri-colored trio is a bit shy, but they are also fairly young and would blossom under a loving hand.
There is one male and two females and they go by the names of Bandito, Momma and Nemo. Nemo is mostly white with a little tan around her ears, Momma is fluffier than the others and is mostly orange and black and Bandito looks a lot like Momma, but with shorter hair and more white.
Most people are surprised by how loving and affectionate guinea pigs can be, and they are relatively low maintenance and easy to care for with the proper set-up. Anyone interested is invited to visit Bandito, Momma and Nemo.
One long-term resident, Bessie, has found a home, but there are many like her who are anxiously awaiting their turn.
New dogs include a neutered male tri-colored pit bull/hound mix from Wilton with chain collar, a spayed female husky from Wilton with collar and a neutered male Rottweiler mix from Wilton.
