Members needed
PERU – The Demerritt Cemetery Association will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the town office. New members are needed on the committee as there is much work to be done.
Acadian Society
RUMFORD – The Acadian Society will resume meetings on Thursday, Sept. 15, at the St. Athanasius/St. John Church Parish Center. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. with a potluck supper. The business meeting will follow.
Seniors trip
RUMFORD – Rumford Senior Citizens will hold a trip to Memphere Inn, Canada, on Nov. 1, 2 and 3 to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s. For information, call 364-4700 or 364-4312 by Wednesday, Sept. 14.
Lasagna supper
DIXFIELD – There will be a lasagna supper at 5 p.m. or until sold out Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Dixfield Congregational Church. Full proceeds will benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The benefit is a combined effort of the five area FLEX foreign exchange students and the members of the Dixfield Congregational Church. The students, who are living in Dixfield and Mexico, are part of the Future Leaders Exchange scholarship program of the U.S. State Department and represent the countries of Ukraine and Russia.
Open house
DIXFIELD – Dirigo High School will hold an open house from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20. For more information, call the main office at 562-4251.
Society meeting
MEXICO – The Mexico Historical Society will meet Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the Calvin Lyons meeting room. The meetings will be held there for the remainder of the year. A hot-dish supper will be served at 5:30 p.m.
The book, “Remembering Ridlonville” by Beverly Melanson, will be on sale at the town hall and the Mexico Historical Society at 3 Oxford St.
