FARMINGTON – About 20 residents attended a special town meeting Tuesday to approve amending a lease agreement between the town and the Fairbanks School Neighborhood Association.
Nobody spoke against the extending the association’s lease on town-owned property on Fairbanks Road to 40 years and the construction completion date of the Fairbanks School community center to five years. The article passed with no dissenting votes.
The vote enables the association to receive a $50,000 grant and $250,000 loan package from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development agency.
The building, still under construction, currently houses a food bank in the basement and may be the future site of classrooms and offices for Franklin County Cooperative Extension and Franklin County Adult Basic Education.
