PARIS – A case against an unemployed Lewiston man charged in connection with multiple camp break-ins in Denmark last November was settled Friday.

Joshua Westberry, 19, pleaded guilty to 11 felony counts of burglary in Oxford County Superior Court in Paris.

Justice Ellen Gorman sentenced him to five years in prison on nine counts, all suspended, and six months each on two counts, to be served consecutively.

He is also to be placed on probation for three years, and was ordered to pay restitution of $6,397.83 to the victims and Maine’s extradition account, his court records state.

In the plea-bargain arrangement, two felony theft charges were dismissed, along with 10 counts of burglary, 20 counts of criminal mischief, and four counts of misdemeanor theft.

Westberry and Kyle James Cathey, 20, of Litchfield, were indicted in February on 47 counts each of burglary, theft and criminal mischief.

According to the indictment, the two reportedly broke into 21 seasonal camps along West Shore Road beside Hancock Pond in Denmark.
