JAY– Becca LeClerc and Taryn Flagg each recorded hat tricks as the high-flying Livermore Falls’ offense was too strong in a 7-1 win against arch-rival Jay on Wednesday.

The Andies (5-0) remained unbeaten in the programs best start ever.

Livermore Falls took control early on and then scored two goals in 16 seconds to take an 3-0 lead. Flagg had scored on a scramble in the circle and the Andies intercepted the ensuing tap. LeClerc rushed down the right side and beat Jay goalie Brianna Allen on the short side.

“We really wanted a shutout,” Livermore Falls coach Julia Parker said, regarding the team expectations. “But, you can’t always control the score. I thought we controlled play throughout the first half, but I was disappointed that we didn’t execute in certain areas.”

The Andies had 11 penalty corners during the game, however, they was unable to put any quality shots on goal. The shots were equally one-sided, but Allen stepped up to make eight saves.

Jay (0-5) was simply unable to mount any attack as Andies fullbacks Baylee Grant and Jenika Kelley charged up the field. The Tigers’ Emily Cloutier and Katie Morin each sent shots inside, but the Tigers couldn’t finish.

Livermore Falls had scored three minutes into the game as LeClerc blistered a Kelsey Biliouris pass into the far corner.

“We were surprised at how well Jay played in the second half,” Parker said. “It wasn’t expected, but you never know what will happen in a Jay and Livermore Falls game.”Jay produced some pressure and Morin hit the post, Cloutier then hit a backhand shot past Livermore Falls goalie Sam Whiting (five saves).

The Andies have outscored opponents 31-2. Whitney McDaniel also scored.

“We’re sticking with the basics,” Jay coach Jane DiPompo said. “Nothing fancy. We were flat in the first half, but we could be 3-2 in we played like we did in the second half, for the entire game.”
